 Raised in the woodlands of Central Oklahoma; Chris Matthews has exploited the lifestyle of ranching, corruption and the unforgiving land of Indian Territory through a “gothic country” approach. With a wide range of music taste spanning from Chris Knight to the Deftones, and Mac Miller to the Stone Temple Pilots, Matthews shows the influences of the musicians he holds high in his eyes throughout his songwriting. With a “dirt under the nails” kind of sound and Mellon Collie-type guitar playing, it’s easy to see how the young artist fits naturally in the Americana genre.
